Flame Arrester

What is a flame arrester?
A flame arrester is a device to prevent a flame from propagating through an open vent into a vessel.

Flame arrester is an approved for installation in piping or vessel, which carries a flammable vapor/air mixture to prevent a flashback beyond the point of installation and installed in a location specifically approved by a listing agency.

Flame arresters should be added to every gas line. It is usually placed either just after the gate valve at the digester and just before the gas stove or stationary engine. Its purpose is, in case of fire, to prevent the flame from traveling down the gas pipe into the gas storage tank or digester and causing an explosion. A flame arrestor is intended to prevent damage to any plant or equipment it is protecting and in many cases it will prevent serious injury or loss of life.
